“The James Joyce Centre is pleased to host Laura Angell\u2019s colourful textile works ripple with a playful sense of the wild and wonderful, their layered threads and shifting forms recalling the strange presences that inhabit the pages of Ulysses by James Joyce. Joyce called it \u2018my damned monster-novel\u2019\u2014 inviting readers to wander through shifting styles, dreamlike episodes, and exaggerated bodies and voices, where the monstrous becomes playful rather than frightening. Angell\u2019s textiles echo this spirit: bright colours collide, shapes stretch and mutate, and figures emerge like soft, woven monsters from the fabric itself. The monstrous <\/strong>here becomes a site of creativity \u2014 an exuberant overflow of texture, colour, and narrative that mirrors the restless invention of Joyce\u2019s literature.\u201d

O! O! Monsters! <\/strong>by Laura Angell in The James Joyce Centre celebrates a breakthrough collaboration between The Athenry Foundation For Art (AFFA)<\/a><\/strong> and The James Joyce Centre. AFFA has chosen Laura Angell as their first artist to support. Angell is a strikingly original and hard-working artist <\/strong>who deserves greater recognition. O! O! Monsters!<\/strong> welcomes all children and demands to be seen by all social and corporate entities that wish to include art through children\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AFFA provides support by representing Angell in this unique collaboration. They are supporting her exhibition in partnership with The James Joyce Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together the intention is to fuel the imagination of all children and Joyce lovers alike. Who knows where they will go next?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
