Fable celebrates the power of storytelling, inspiring the next generation of seancha\u00ed by re-imagining the traditional storytelling experience in ambitious and imaginative ways that engage young and curious audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On\u00a0<strong>Sunday, 3 November 2024<\/strong>, Fable hosted a series of workshops, mythic tales, and songs in the James Joyce Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1pm: WHAT\u2019S YOUR TALL TALE WITH STORYTELLER ALAN NOLAN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"577\" src=\"https:\/\/jamesjoyce.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Banner-Storytelling-Workshop-1024x577.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jamesjoyce.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Banner-Storytelling-Workshop-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/jamesjoyce.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Banner-Storytelling-Workshop-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jamesjoyce.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Banner-Storytelling-Workshop-768x433.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jamesjoyce.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Banner-Storytelling-Workshop-1536x865.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/jamesjoyce.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Banner-Storytelling-Workshop.jpg 1640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have a story you want to bring to life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop aimed to reconnect children with their storytelling roots inspire the next generation of seancha\u00ed by teaching them about the Irish tradition of storytelling and working to bring tall tales to life with little legends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Children\u2019s author\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alannolan.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alan Nolan<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0took children on a magical journey through the art of storytelling using imagery and words as ancient mythology were given a contemporary new twist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alan Nolan<\/strong>&nbsp;was awarded the 2024 Children\u2019s Books Ireland Annual Award for his outstanding contribution to children\u2019s books. Alan grew up in Windy Arbour, Dublin and now lives in Bray, Co. Wicklow with his wife and three children. Alan is the author of the&nbsp;<em>Molly Malone<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Bram Stoker<\/em>&nbsp;series. He is also the author and illustrator of&nbsp;<em>Fintan\u2019s Fifteen<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Conor\u2019s Caveman<\/em>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<em>Sam Hannigan<\/em>&nbsp;series, and is the illustrator of&nbsp;<em>Animal Crackers: Fantastic Facts About Your Favourite Animals<\/em>, written by Sarah Webb. Those characters that have gone before us but are eternal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heroes are made through their deeds but live on through the tales we tell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acclaimed Dublin based artist\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kikinaart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kiki Na Art<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0as lead a legendary workshop for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As her own handcrafted jewellery and artwork has demonstrated, Kiki was all about being proud of our heroes, so who better than to invite children to tell stories and use their imagination to create their own artworks based upon inspirational people in their lives. Characters of old in Irish folklore or family members and friends who have changed the world for the better, heroes young and old, past and present were celebrated in a kaleidoscope of colour of the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dublin born artist&nbsp;<strong>Ciarna Pham<\/strong>, who works under the name&nbsp;<strong>Kiki Na Art<\/strong>&nbsp;is the creator of unique pieces of handcrafted jewellery which have been gaining quite a bit of attention in recent times. The idea behind the jewellery is to allow people to wear and show their own modern icons, ranging from musical icons such as Bowie, artists such as Frida Kahlo, political figures, writers, actors, vintage images and even old photos.
