It showed mostly European films, much to the displeasure of the locals. Joyce managed the cinema for a few months before returning to Trieste. The Volta would remain open until 1919. In honour of Joyce&#8217;s introducing film to Ireland, the film room on the top floor of the James Joyce Centre is called &#8220;the Volta.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are pleased to announce that the <strong>3rd Edition <\/strong>of the <strong>Volta Exhibition<\/strong> is now live. It is held during the Bloomsday Festival. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsdayfestival.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Bloomsday Festival 2026<\/a><\/strong> will be held on June 11-16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default
