Bloomsday Lecture by Prof. Sam Slote (TCD)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ulysses <\/em>may be set in Dublin but it was written in exile: in Trieste, Zurich, and Paris \u2013 as is reflected in its epigraph. Trieste is where Joyce conceived and began writing Ulysses <\/em>and was, as he called it, his “second country.” Zurich is where most of it was written. And Paris is where he finished and published it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this talk, Professor Sam Slote (Trinity College Dublin) will look at the traces these cities leave in the text of Ulysses <\/em>and Finnegans Wake<\/em> to show how Joyce\u2019s Dublin is refracted through his other cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
